Hi.

Welcome to my blog! This is where I document my adventures in food, travel, and mindfulness....and more food! Hope you have a nice stay!

What is Wellth?

What is Wellth?

When you first saw my blog, maybe you thought I was a bad speller. So, that may be true...but, the "Wellth" in Wellth and Wellness comes from Jacob Wachob's book "Wellth."

To be truly wellthy is to find your personal prescription — to discover what works for you, what feels good, what you love. That process of discovery never ends. There are certain diets and types of exercise that are right for you in certain periods of your life but not others. Not only do we have to find the approach that works for us; we need to learn how to adapt that approach, or change it entirely, throughout our lives.

Wellth is all about redefining success from mindless following into mindful living. In the past, I have mindlessly worked out 7 days per week, mindlessly restricted my calories and mindlessly completed the life milestones dictated by society.

Wellth and Wellness is my journey to mindfulness. I am working toward achievements that matter to me. I am eating foods that support where my body is today. I am practicing yoga, walking or running depending on what my mind and body need each day.

I have never been a highly organized person. On the weekends, I float through the day without a plan. The best example I can give you is how I clean the house. I don't enjoy cleaning. I start washing the laundry, pick up a few things in the kitchen, wash my face, scrub a toilet, vacuum a rug in the living room, take some recycling out of the kitchen, forget there is laundry in the washer, put away a few dishes, put a face serum on....there is no rhyme or reason. I bounce from project to project like a pinball. This works for me.

I have spent years (YEARS) forcing myself to march to the beat of a different drum. I should keep a schedule. I should get a graduate degree. I should make this amount of money per year. I should go even if I don't feel well. I should clean an entire room in one sitting.

Do you know where I ended up? Tired. Exhausted. Outside of myself. It's truly exhausting to be in a constant battle with your nature. What could be more tiring??

You can try to ignore you instincts, but you won’t have much success. the wave or gut reaction is part of something much bigger than you are, and in the end, it will always win.

If you're feeling like life is more complicated than it should be, or stressed or overwhelmed, try practicing easy.

I realized that when you force things — a career, a relationship — life will be forceful back. If you want your life to be easy, you need to practice easy.

Pay attention to what you're doing throughout the day and how you're going about it. What feels the most natural to you? Take some time to just be present and practice easy!
