Meditation Experiment - Day 1
Hello Everyone! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Headspace, but it was recommend to me for easy access to meditations. After reading 10% Happier by Dan Harris, I started researching meditation. After lots of research, it seemed scientifically sound, so I tried a loving kindness meditation. I LOVED it!
They say we have 4 emotions that every emotion stems from: happiness, anger, sadness and fear. Think about it, happiness is the minority here and can be easily overshadowed by the other 3. Loving kindness meditation brings happiness to the forefront of your mind by sending positive vibes to people, including yourself. As a perfectionist that struggles with focusing on all of the problems to be solved, loving kindness breaks in and brings me back to a warm, fuzzy, self-compassionate place.
At the end of the meditation today, it asked you to pay attention to how you felt. I felt light, calm, and centered.
The good news: meditation works for me. The bad news: I'm consistently inconsistent. My longest "streak" on headspace is 1.
So, I'm challenging myself to 10 days of meditation. If anyone else wants to join me, go to the app store and snag the Headspace app - it's free!!! Let me know how you like it!
