Why Collagen?

Y'all have sent in some GREAT questions about collagen, and I am FINALLY answering! Sorry for the wait  : )

Q: Why do I use collagen? I started using collagen because it was supposed to help my hair, skin and nails (seriously, who doesn't want better hair, skin, and nails??). After just a few weeks, I noticed stronger nails and improved skin texture, BUT the biggest wakeup call for me was when I ran out of my collagen peptides, and had to wait for my next tub to come in the mail...my joints starting aching again. I'm relatively young at 28, but on any given day my hips and knees will whine and moan from years of basketball, tennis, soccer, skiing...you name it. I didn't realize it at first, but taking collagen made those aches virtually disappear. When I got that tub in the mail, I ripped it open and immediately dumped some collagen in my tea...I'm not exaggerating. I left a trail of cardboard and packaging from the front door into the kitchen. So, needless to say, I'm hooked.

Q: I have skin products with collagen in them, do I really need to ingest it? YES! Anybody else not love the skin texture between your booty and your hamstrings? Women with perfectly smooth thighs, I envy you hardcore. Collagen didn't give me Carrie Underwood legs, but it plumped up the thinner skin that let my cellulite shine bright like a diamond.

Newsflash: Collagen also helps plump up the skin on your face to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And reduces stretch marks.

The bottom line: Don't fight it. This is your sign. Time to get on the collagen train!

Bonus Q: Why Vital Proteins collagen? It doesn't have a bad taste, it's easy to use because it dissolves so quickly, and they offer it in a tub or in to-go packets (think Crystal Light) to take with you on the go. It's gluten free, dairy free, Whole30 approved and paleo. What's not to love?
